Diocese of Blackburn

Queen approves the nomination of the Venerable Julian Tudor Henderson, MA, Archdeacon of Dorking, for election as Bishop of Blackburn.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Bishop succeeds the Right Reverend Nicholas Stewart Reade, BA, on his resignation on the 31st October 2012.

Julian Henderson (aged 58) was educated at Keble College, Oxford and then trained for his Ministry at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. He served his first curacy from 1979 to 1983 at Islington St Mary in the Diocese of London. From 1983 to 1992 he was Vicar at Hastings Emmanuel and St Mary in the Castle in the Diocese of Chichester. From 1992 to 2005 he was Vicar at Claygate in the Diocese of Guildford, and also Rural Dean of Emly from 1996 to 2001. From 2002 he was Honorary Canon at Guildford Cathedral. Since 2005 he has been Archdeacon of Dorking.

He is married to Heather with two grown up children. In his leisure time he enjoys gardening, design and DIY, walking reading, tennis and cycling.
