NHSBT is responsible for the provision of reliable, efficient supply of blood to hospitals in England, North Wales and associated services to the wider NHS. It is also the organ donation organisation for the UK, responsible for matching and allocating donated organs.
In addition, NHSBT:
- provides the NHS with a range of products and services for the direct benefit of patients
- maintains relationships with altruistic donors and variety of NHS customers
- manages complex supply chains
Candidates will have a track record of leading a performance driven board, experience of working as a non-executive at board level or equivalent and experience of substantial transformation in a public or private sector organisation.
Time and pay
The chair will receive remuneration of up to £63,000 per annum for a time commitment of approximately 3 days per week.
The Secretary of State for Health determines the length of appointment, which will be for up to a maximum of 4 years.
