SIN Spain organised a workshop between Cancer Research UK and the Spanish National Oncology Research Centre, aimed to strengthen UK knowledge base in relation to cancer treatment by facilitating discussions on a bilateral R&D agreement and joint projects between the two institutions. Discussions also covered attracting funding for CRUK through EU R&D programmes by partnering with CNIO.
Cancer Research UK was interested in getting a deeper understanding of CNIO’s strengths and expertise in drug development projects. Topics for discussion were decreasing time, cost and attrition in drug discovery and development, explore new approaches and technologies. The presentations, discu ssions and the visit to the Spanish centre enabled UK/ES stakeholders to look for synergies and areas of common interest, and explore the possibility of signing an R&D agreement.
