Improvements on the M11 and A120 have moved a step closer last Thursday (17 December) with the appointment of a contractor for the scheme.

Interserve Construction Ltd on behalf of Highways England will be carrying out a package of works on the M11 and A120 in Essex.

The work will involve resurfacing, safety barrier renewal, drainage work, embankment repairs, replacing and installing new signs.

The £4.7 million contract is part of Highways England’s commitment in the region to improve safety and ensure better journey experiences across the East region’s busiest roads.

Aran Nugent, Service Delivery Team Leader at Highways England, said:

The appointment of the contractors is a vital part of the delivery of improvements to some of our major roads in Essex. This scheme will make journeys better for local people by improving safety for the thousands of drivers that use these roads each day.

We expect the work to start at the end of January and be completed by the spring next year. We will work with the contractors on how the works will affect people, but I’d like to assure drivers, where possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum and to bear with us while we continue to carry out this vital work to improve the existing road network.

All of the work will be carried out off-peak to keep disruption to a minimum. More details about when and where the work is being carried out will be announced in the coming weeks.
