Consular outreach workshop La Paz

HM Ambassador Ross Denny welcomes participants, accompanied by Pro Consul Carla Mendez

On Wednesday 19 June the consular section hosted a Consular Outreach Workshop for the tourism sector in La Paz. Participants were hostel and hotel managers, tour operators, consular officers from other diplomatic missions and tourism authorities.

Representatives from the Bolivian Viceministry of Tourism, Tourism Direction of the Mayor’s Office, Immigration and the National Tour Operators Chamber were also present.

The objective of this event was to create a support network of organisations who work closely with British tourists, focusing on independent and vulnerable travellers. Consular staff explained their role in protecting and supporting British nationals abroad and how we promote responsible travel through various channels.

The workshop included dynamic and informative sessions led by authorities and gave participants the chance to raise concerns, discuss issues of common interest, learn more about British travellers and establish joint strategies to provide a better service to all tourists.
