Addressing the Welsh Grand Committee today Welsh Secretary Cheryl Gillan told MPs that the Government was taking decisive action to put Britain’s economy back on a firm footing. 

Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander also attended Welsh Grand to address members on the implications of the emergency Budget on Wales.

During the Committee, which focussed on the Budget and Queen’s Speech, Mrs Gillan said: “This Government is taking decisive action to put Britain’s economy back on a firm footing by reducing the deficit and restoring economic growth. 

“The Government’s legislative programme is radical but efficient.  It will renew the political structures of the United Kingdom, get the police back tackling crime, improve our education system and help with tackling our unprecedented deficit.  We want to ensure that by unlocking Wales’ potential that we achieve a bright and prosperous future for all.”
