UK International Development Minister Lynne Featherstone has arrived in South Africa as part of a regional focus on Britain’s HIV/AIDS strategy.

The Minister will be visiting South Africa and then Malawi. She will meet with South African counterparts and representatives from civil society organisations in the region, as well as with DFID staff.

On arrival Lynne Featherstone said: “This visit will provide a valuable opportunity to discuss with our South African and regional partners how we can make British aid, which is already helping to protect millions across the world from HIV, more effective at tackling this terrible disease.”

The Minister will also have meetings to discuss UK-South Africa co-operation on combating gender based violence.
