British High Commissioner visits Wiltshire town of Marlborough
British High Commissioner to The Gambia David Morley this week visited the UK town of Marlborough in Wiltshire to learn more about their work with the twinned Gambian community of Gunjur.

The Marlborough Brandt Group (MBG) was established in 1982 and over 1,500 people from Marlborough have so far visited Gunjur. The MBG organise annual visits for young people from Marlborough to visit Gunjur and volunteer in the community. Additionally, the MBG provide work and training placements for young Gambians to improve their skills and employment prospects.
During his visit the High Commissioner and his wife met with the Mayor of Marlborough, Councillor Guy Loosmore as well as the Marlborough Brandt Group’s Board of Trustees and local charities and individuals who have an interest in the Marlborough-Gunjur link and the development of the Gambia.
The High Commissioner learnt about the Afrikaya charity which is building a nursery school at New Yundum as well as the work of JOLE Rider an organisation which since 2006 has sent 12,000 bicycles to the Gambia for schoolchildren.
