During a visit to Curitiba on Monday (27 May), the British ambassador in Brazil, Alan Charlton, and the consul-general and director of UKTI, John Doddrell, are meeting commercial institutions and governmental representatives, in order to introduce the new honorary consul designated for the region, Allan Marcelo de Campos Costa.

The agenda opens with a breakfast in Fecomercio, where there will be gathered leaderships of development agencies from Parana, university representatives and members of commercial associations, such as Sesi, Senai, Senac, Sesc, Ocepar, Faep amongst others.

The encounter is followed by a meeting with the Governor Beto Richa and, later, with the Mayor of Curitiba, Gustavo Fruet. The discussions will be around the opportunities of cooperation between the UK and Parana in infrastructure, transport, energy and education.

Allan Costa has already built up strong links with the region. As director of Sebrae/PR, he is an important player in the business sector, covering both commercial and political sides. He has also a long stand connection with the UK, where he studied for his MSc in IT, Management and Organizational Change, at University of Lancaster, in London.

“There are many opportunities for cooperation amongst the UK, Parana and Curitiba. The creative industry in Curitiba, for instance, has grown rapidly and intensively. The British expertise in this and other areas is very positive and can, certainly, sum up to the region”, Allan said.
