British Embassy Santo Domingo opens call for bids for the FCO programme funds

The British Embassy Santo Domingo is now accepting project proposals for the 2018/2019 financial year (April 2018-March 2019).

This year the British Embassy Santo Domingo is seeking to support projects that promote socio-economic growth and development of the Dominican Republic focusing on the following themes:

Human Rights and Democracy

Strengthening human rights in the Dominican Republic through capacity building and other activities regarding the implementation and adoption of the UN Business and Human Rights guiding principles and which seek to promote the development of a National Action Plan based on the aforementioned activities. Activities related to this project will highlight best corporate practices, better corporate governance and transparency, protection of migrant workers’ and children’s human rights and it will set out key actions to implement the latter.

Targeted project budget: £20,000 or equivalent in USD or DOP.

Technological Education

Seeking to obtain measurable increased awareness through capacity building (workshops, seminars, conferences) in: new financial technologies, financial innovation, cyber security or education in technology and innovation.

Targeted project budget: £10,000 or equivalent in USD or DOP.

Climate Change

Projects aiming to reduce vulnerability of human or natural systems to the impacts of climate change and climate-related risks in the Dominican Republic through: disaster prevention and preparedness (including policy on building infrastructure resilient to natural disasters) or education, training and public awareness-raising related to the causes and impacts of climate change.

Targeted project budget: £7,000 or equivalent in USD or DOP.

United Nations

Projects aiming to promote the economic development of the Dominican Republic through education and training on the United Nations system and its structure, including the Security Council and capacity building in diplomacy and foreign policy issues.

Targeted project budget: £10,000 or equivalent in USD or DOP.

Bid Guidance

Projects are funded for a single financial year running from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2019, with no expectation of continued funding beyond this period.

Project implementation should not exceed 6 months.

Assessment

Bids will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • alignment with the above mentioned thematic priorities and outcomes
  • outcomes are achievable within the funding period
  • project design includes clear monitoring and evaluation procedures
  • sustainability demonstrating that project benefits continue after the funding ends
  • risk and financial accountability procedures
  • the organisation’s safeguarding policies that ensure protection of beneficiaries
  • overall value for money

Process

  1. Project proposals must be received by 23:55 (Santo Domingo time) on Friday 25 May. Late proposals will not be considered.
  2. Proposals must be submitted using the attached forms only (Project Proposal and Activity Based Budget).
  3. Proposals must be submitted to UK.InDominicanRepublic@fco.gov.uk
  4. Project proposals selected for further consideration will be notified in early June.
  5. The British Embassy Santo Domingo aim to sign grant agreements with successful project implementers by 15 June.
