The Foreign & Commonwealth Office are once again teaming up with Comic Relief UK to organise Sport Relief Miles all around the world, to raise money for local charities, this year all sponsorship money raised by participants will go to our nominated charity this year, Kuwait Red Crescent Society.

The Sport Relief Mile is at the heart of this campaign. The embassy will be sponsoring a 1 mile run at Gulf Road. This mass participation event is open to everyone, regardless of their athletic prowess or mobility. Members of the public are encouraged to cover a distance of approximately 1 mile by whatever means they are able.

The event is part of UK’s Comic Relief sport charity activities with a primary goal of bringing about positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people.

Sport Relief was launched in 2002 by Comic Relief UK, a charity which supports poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. During the 10-years history of the Sport Relief project it has managed to collect around £195m million in UK to help thousands of needy families and individuals around the world.

The embassy will be joined by a British schools and businesses and there will be a small registration fee which will go to Sport Relief.
