Children with cleft lips will be operated thanks to the British Embassy and Operation Smile

British Ambassador and representatives of Operation Smile visited children with cleft lips before their surgery in Piura.

On Friday 18 March, British Ambassador Anwar Choudhury, a Volunteer Doctors’ Delegation and authorities from Operación Sonrisa (Operation Smile) visited Piura to meet 15 children with cleft lips due to have surgery thanks to the support of the British Embassy and Operación Sonrisa. Reynaldo Hilbck Guzmán Piura’s Regional Government President, and Dr. Rogger Oquelis Cabredo, Hospital de la Amistad Perú- Korea Santa Rosa II2’s Executive Director, also joined the visit.

In an intimate ceremony at the Hospital, the children and their parents enjoyed a delicious meal arranged by the volunteers from Operación Sonrisa and the Embassy team. The Ambassador also presented the children with gifts and souvenirs.

This event took place the day before the children went through their programmed operations in the surgery rooms generously provided by the Hospital de la Amistad Perú- Korea Santa Rosa II-2.

With this charitable campaign we hope to bring these children the opportunity to achieve a positive change in their lives.
