Board member appointed to the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service

The Secretary of State for Justice has approved the appointment of Kathryn Gillatt as a board member of Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS).

The Secretary of State for Justice has approved the appointment, for 4 years from 5 October 2026, of Kathryn Gillatt as a member of Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS).

Cafcass is a non-departmental public body, created under the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000, which safeguards and promotes the welfare of children involved in family proceedings in which their welfare is or may be in question.

Appointments to CAFCASS are regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments and recruitment processes align with the Governance Code on Public Appointments.

Biography

Kathryn Gillatt is a Chartered Accountant,senior healthcare leader and civil servant with experience in finance, corporate services, governance, and risk management. She has been the Audit Committee Chair at various NHS Trusts and ALB’s since 2014. Previously Kathryn has held roles as Interim Director of Finance at Nottingham CityCare from 2017-19, Director of Finance at Doncaster Children’s Trust from 2014-16, Director of Finance and Corporate Services for DVSA 2002-2014 and Director of Finance and Information for a second wave NHS trust 1991-2002.

A graduate of Nottingham University, Kathryn is recognised for her expertise in financial leadership, governance, assurance, and organisational improvement, helping NHS organisations deliver effective and accountable public services.
