BHC funding aids schools sustainability, prisoner rehabilitation
A British High Commission funded project has helped promote environmental sustainability, climate change awareness and prisoner rehabilitation.

A British High Commission funded project to promote environmental sustainability, climate change awareness and prisoner rehabilitation concluded on August 6th, with the donation of a prison-made water tank to the Seychelles Agriculture and Horticulture Training Centre (SAHTC).
The tank is one of six constructed at Seychelles’ Montagne Posse prison, using materials supplied by environmental ngo, Sustainability for Seychelles (S4S), which coordinated the project. The tanks have now been delivered and installed to each of Seychelles further education institutions.
In addition to the construction of the water tanks, the British High Commission project also funded the production of climate change guide books, developed by S4S in liaison with the Ministry of Education, to be included in the national secondary school curriculum.
This unique project successfully combined work on rehabilitation for prison inmates with improved sustainability in schools and greater understanding of the impact of climate change.
