Barrier repairs for M53 at Bebington, Merseyside

Work to repair safety barriers along the M53 at Bebington on Merseyside will get underway this weekend.

Highways Agency project sponsor Jakub Malaj said:

‘This important work will ensure drivers can continue to enjoy safe journeys along this section of the M53.

The £330,000 project is taking place between junction 3 and junction 4 of the motorway south of Birkenhead. The work will start tomorrow (Friday 20 June) and the whole project will be completed by Saturday 12 July.

The project involves replacing reservation barrier fixing posts but not the barriers themselves.

During the work, lane 3 of both the southbound and northbound carriageways will be closed around the clock for safety reasons with a 50mph speed limit in place past the road works.

Some overnight closures of lane two of the motorway in both directions will also be taking place.
