Award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union
The Nobel Committee has awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union.

In response to the announcement that the Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union, an FCO spokesperson said:
“This award recognises the EU’s historic role in promoting peace and reconciliation in Europe, particularly through its enlargement to Central and Eastern Europe. The EU must always strive to preserve and strengthen those achievements for the future.”
