Appointment of Joanna Wallace as Independent Case Examiner

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has today announced the appointment of Joanna Wallace as Independent Case Examiner.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has today announced the appointment of Joanna Wallace as Independent Case Examiner. Joanna will assume this post on 1st April 2013.

Joanna Wallace has previously undertaken a wide range of executive roles including Chief Executive of the Christie NHS Trust Manchester and Director of Spire Manchester Hospital, part of Spire Healthcare. She has significant experience of complaint resolution and determination of complex issues.  She has worked successfully with a number of large organisations within both public and private sectors.

Robert Devereux, the Permanent Secretary, said today:

I am delighted to welcome Joanna Wallace as Independent Case Examiner for the Department.  I am confident that she will play a key role in supporting our continuing drive to improve the service we deliver to our customers.

The Independent Case Examiner (ICE) service has been available to customers of the DWP since 2007 and is the independent complaints tier for operational organisations of the DWP (Jobcentre Plus, The Pension Service, Disability and Carers service, Debt Management and the Child Support Agency), the Financial Assistance Scheme, the Independent Living Fund, Northern Ireland Social Security Agency and the Child Maintenance Enforcement Division.
