Ambassador welcomes announcement of UK State Visit

South Korean President Park Geun-hye accepted an invitation from The Queen to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom in the autumn.

Scott Wightman, British Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, today welcomed the news that President Park Geun-hye had accepted an invitation from The Queen to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom in the autumn.

Commenting on the news, Scott Wightman said:

I’m delighted President Park has accepted the invitation from Her Majesty the Queen for a formal state visit to the UK. 2013 marks the 130th anniversary of UK-Korea diplomatic relations and this visit represents a unique opportunity for us to deepen the strong bond between our countries.
