Bridge repair work will begin on the A19/A172 Tontine Interchange, near Northallerton on Monday (13 April).

During the work there will be narrow lanes on the northbound and southbound carriageways approaching the bridge. The northbound entry slip road and the northbound exit slip road will also be closed throughout phase one and two of the work.

The work will be carried out in 3 phases and is planned to be completed by Sunday 4 October.

Phase 1: Work will start on Monday April 13. During the work there will be off-peak lane closures between 9.30am and 3.30pm on the northbound and southbound A19. A 40mph speed limit will be in operation on the A172.

Phase 2: Work is planned to start on Tuesday 5 May. A 24 hour 50mph speed limit will be in place on the A19 and a 40mph speed limit on the A172.

Phase 3: Work is expected to start on Friday 14 August. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight between 8am and 6pm.

The closures have been carefully scheduled to minimise disruption to drivers. During the closures drivers will be diverted on to the A19 southbound and the A684, before re-joining the northbound carriageway.
