I am delighted to announce that the United Kingdom is working with a range of South African partners to celebrate 20 years of freedom and democracy in South Africa.

“20:20 Vision: Celebrating 20 years of Democracy with 20 Partnerships for the Future”, both looks back to the achievements of democratic South Africa; and look forward to the future with new and vibrant partnerships in the fields of arts, culture, education, skills, science and research, trade, business and sport.

I’m excited about the range of initiatives: from ballet performances as part of the UK/SA season of arts and culture; to grass-roots football coaching with the English Premier League, as part of the “Premier Skills” initiative; to increased scholarships; to £100m of British investment into the Square Kilometre Array Project.

British High Commissioner, Judith Macgregor.
