Responsibilities

The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State will support the work of the Department for Exiting the European Union.

  • Policy Coordination and Delivery across Whitehall (domestic preparations for exit)
  • Contingency Planning
  • EU (Withdrawal) Bill

Current role holder: Chris Heaton-Harris MP

Chris Heaton-Harris was appointed as a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union on 9 July 2018.

Previously he was Comptroller of HM Household (Government Whip) from 9 January 2018 to 9 July 2018. Chris was previously Vice Chamberlain of HM Household (Government Whip) from June 2017 to January 2018.

He was made an Assistant Government Whip in July 2016. He was elected Conservative MP for Daventry in May 2010.
