Lord Lemos CMG CBE
Lord Lemos CMG CBE was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government on 12 June 2026.
He was previously Lord in Waiting (Government Whip) between 22 July 2025 and 12 June 2026.
Lord Lemos joined HMPPS as Lead Non-Executive Board Member on 1 May 2018 and chaired the Agency Board leaving role on 20 March 2025.
He is Chair of Hofesh Shechter Dance Company. He is the author of many publications about social policy and supporting vulnerable people, including The Good Prison: Conscience, crime and punishment published in 2014.
His former roles include Chair of English Heritage, Chair of London Institute of Banking and Finance, Vice-President of the British Board of Film Classification, Chair of Payments UK, the Lending Standards Board, Banking Code Standards Board, Notting Hill Housing, and the Money Advice Service; Deputy Chair and Acting Chair of the British Council; a trustee of London University and Dartington Hall Trust, an Audit Commissioner, a Civil Service Commissioner and a non-executive director of the Crown Prosecution Service.
