The Minister for the Cabinet Office is the deputy to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in all departmental business, including on inter-governmental relations and public appointments.

He is responsible for:

  • Oversight of functions and services
  • Civil Service reform
  • Inquiries policy 
  • Infected blood inquiry 
  • Duty of candour
  • Constitution and House of Lords reform 
  • Cabinet Office business planning and performance 
  • Communications function & reform
  • Public sector workforce

Nick Thomas–Symonds was appointed Paymaster General and Minister for the Cabinet Office (Minister for the Constitution and European Union Relations) at the Cabinet Office on 8 July 2024.

He was elected as the MP for Torfaen in May 2015.
