Minister for Government Resilience and Efficiency

Responsibilities

The Minster for Government Resilience and Efficiency supports the Minister for the Cabinet Office in delivering Cabinet Office policy. Responsibilities include:

  • efficiency and controls
  • functions - Infrastructure and Projects Authority, Civil Service HR, the Government Digital Service, commercial and Crown Commercial Service, Government Property and commercial models
  • shared services
  • Civil Service workforce issues
  • Single Departmental Plans
  • cyber
  • resilience

Current role holder: Caroline Nokes MP

Caroline Nokes was appointed Minister for Government Resilience and Efficiency at the Cabinet Office on 14 June 2017. She was elected Conservative MP for Romsey and Southampton North in May 2010.

Education

Caroline was educated at the The Romsey School, La Sagesse Convent in Romsey and then Peter Symonds’ College, Winchester, before studying Government and Politics at the University of Sussex.

Political career

During her time in Parliament Caroline has served on the Environmental Audit and Education Select Committees, and was Chair of the Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art. Caroline has served as a Principal Private Secretary at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Transport. Between July 2016 and June 2017 Caroline served as Minister for Welfare Delivery at DWP .
