Men’s Health Strategy governance
Governance arrangements for the implementation of the Men's Health Strategy, which includes the Department of Health and Social Care's Men's Health Project Board and 2 expert advisory groups.
Implementation of the Men’s Health Strategy is overseen by the Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC’s) Men’s Health Project Board, chaired by the Senior Responsible Officer for men’s health. The Men’s Health Project Board reports to the minister responsible for men’s health.
The implementation of the strategy is supported by 2 expert advisory groups, the:
- Men’s Health Academic Network
- Men’s Health Stakeholder Group
Men’s Health Academic Network
The Men’s Health Academic Network is an advisory group that provides expert, evidence-based advice on implementation of the Men’s Health Strategy. It reports to the Men’s Health Project Board.
Role
The network will explore and advise on how the evidence base can be strengthened on priority topics defined in the strategy, and provide evidence-based advice on men’s health issues and issues impacting men more broadly, including evidence gaps and emerging issues.
The group will also support with interpretation and translation of emerging evidence and research to inform policy development, share evidence-based insights on effective approaches and relevant research developments, and advise on evaluation approaches.

Men’s Health Stakeholder Group
The Men’s Health Stakeholder Group (the stakeholder group) is an advisory group that provides advice to DHSC on implementation of the Men’s Health Strategy. It reports to the Men’s Health Project Board.
Role
The group will provide advice to the department on men’s health issues and issues impacting men more broadly, including insights from local communities and men with lived experience and identifying emerging issues.
The group will collaborate to strengthen understanding of men’s health by sharing insight, evidence and best practice, and by helping to shape and amplify clear, accessible messages for men and the communities that support them.
The group will also assist in implementing strategy actions and co-designing solutions to men’s health issues as required.
