HM Land Registry Industry Forum

HM Land Registry Industry Forum members represent a cross-section of customers and stakeholders within the property market. All members are directly or indirectly involved in the land registration process.

The forum is chaired by Mike Harlow, General Counsel, Deputy Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Land Registrar.

Role of the group

Members work together to find new ways to improve the conveyancing process. Through open and candid discussion new approaches to policy and developments are informally tested. A shared understanding of sector practices, expectations and challenges, is allowing HM Land Registry to implement measures that support customers, stakeholders and the wider property market.

The forum is one of several engagement channels used to inform HM Land Registry’s decision-making through:

  • market insight sharing
  • identification of barriers affecting land registration
  • identification of practical solutions to barriers
  • guidance on the current and future feasibility of policy developments

Sectors

We aim to ensure all sectors in the conveyancing process are represented within the forum, as we all have a collective responsibility. To enable the forum to act as a working group we would like to keep member numbers relatively small. But we also welcome new members who will give the forum the right balance and breadth.

If your sector does not appear on the list below and you would like to become a member, please contact us.

The forum is made up of:

  • property and land law, regulators and professional bodies
  • building societies and their representative body
  • banking and representative body
  • search and data providers and representative body
  • surveyors’ representative body
  • house builders
  • estate agents’ representative body
  • property tax submission
  • the representative body for local authorities
  • the Coal Authority
