This is the government response to the consultation on proposals to amend the definition of “nationally significant infrastructure” rail and highway projects set out in the Planning Act 2008 in order to speed up delivery and reduce the costs of transport projects.

This consultation is on proposals to amend the definitions of ‘nationally significant’ rail and highways projects set out in the Planning Act 2008. The aim of this is to speed up the completion of projects and reduce the costs.
