Consultation description

The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) is seeking views on proposals for it to stop performing a certification body function for entities in charge of maintenance (ERM) of freight wagons. As a national safety authority in the UK, we have carried out the ERM certification body role of since 2012. Following a review in 2016 we have concluded that there are now sufficient accredited bodies in the market to allow us to withdraw from this function.

We invited industry stakeholders to provide comments on the proposals set out in our consultation document.
