Open consultation

Connect to Work statistics proposals

Updated 5 January 2026

Summary

This consultation will run until 11:45pm on Monday 16 February 2026.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is seeking views from users on our plans to publish regular statistics on Connect to Work.

We would like you to tell us what additional Connect to Work statistics you would like us to develop in the future and what you would use this additional information for.

This will help us to identify and prioritise the future development of Connect to Work statistics, subject to the availability and quality assurance of the data.

Some developments may be more easy to achieve than others, and some may be hampered by the current availability of data or its quality. As a result, the timeframe within which these changes could be made is likely to vary.

Background

Since April 2025, Connect to Work has helped those, primarily, currently outside the workforce and facing greater labour market disadvantages, to get into work and to stay in work.

From late Spring 2026, it is DWP’s intention to release regular Connect to Work official statistics which will provide information about the number of:

  • referrals to Connect to Work
  • starts to Connect to Work

Over time, the statistics we release will expand, to include a range of additional information, for example, the number of job outcomes from the programme.

As Connect to Work continues to rollout – and as more data becomes available – we would like to produce new breakdowns as part of our regular Connect to Work statistical output.

As the rollout continues some of the existing employment scheme statistical series (for example, Work and Health Programme) will naturally come to a close.

Scope of the consultation

The questionnaire outlines possible options to:

  • define the range of regular Connect to Work statistics
  • identify statistical priorities for incorporation into the Connect to Work publication

Within this overall plan, we are asking users which potential developments they would find most useful. We will consider all user requests and will use this information to help to prioritise our development work.

We have included a number of proposals, and some may be affected by the availability and completeness of the necessary data.

We will also need to make sure the data passes quality assurance checks before releasing any figures based on it.

When responding say whether you use, or would expect to use, these statistics yourself, or as part of your role within an organisation.

If you are responding on behalf of an organisation, tell us what sort of organisation it is. We have put a list of interest groups on the questionnaire for you to select from.

Rate each of the potential developments (from 1 to 4) based on how desirable or necessary you think they are:

  1. essential, and top priority
  2. highly desirable
  3. might be useful, but a lower priority
  4. not useful

If appropriate, tell us why this additional information would be useful for you.

Send your responses by 11:45pm on Monday 16 February 2026.
