Following commitments made within the Services Mobility Agreement, an agreement was reached on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications (RPQ) between the UK and Switzerland.

Regulations that implement the UK Switzerland RPQ agreement have entered into force in the UK and Switzerland. This enables UK-qualified professionals in regulated sectors to have a smooth and transparent route for their qualifications to be recognised in Switzerland and vice-versa.

The agreement also safeguards the autonomy of UK and Swiss professional regulators to:

  • set and maintain standards
  • assess against these standards
  • decide who is fit to practise the profession

This agreement brings tangible, long-term benefits to the UK, simplifying processes for UK-qualified professionals to practice in Switzerland. This provides much-needed certainty, which can in turn boost UK services exports.
