Data and research to help understand current and emerging skills gaps and the type of jobs people take after training.

This data and research aims to support a better understanding of current skill mismatches and future demand. It will help our skills system respond effectively to deliver good jobs and higher productivity.

It was developed by the Unit for Future Skills, an analytical and research unit within the Department for Education. Skills England now fulfills this role.

Data

The unit supported the development of new data on the type of employment people undertake after training. You can access the data through our dashboards and ad-hoc statistics releases:

Research

The Unit for Future Skills’ research programme aimed to strengthen the evidence base on skills and skills-matching in the economy.
