Increasing pressure on our water resources mean that it is important that we know how to protect public water supplies and the environment. Drought plans are essential for managing our water resources. They help water companies and the Environment Agency make the right decisions at the right time.

Environment Agency drought plans for England include how we:

  • make decisions
  • monitor, measure and report the impacts of drought
  • deal with applications for drought permits and drought orders

The documents are organised by Environment Agency operational regions. Please refer to each document for details of the exact locations covered or refer to the map of Environment Agency regions.
