A £20 million boost for new development in Luton
£20 million was allocated for a new development in Luton. Plans for the funding will support the town centre masterplan and Luton’s vision for 2040.
The stage
The planned development is named ‘The Stage’ and located at Bute Street car park. Plans include:
- retail and business space
- improved public spaces
- 405 new homes
- multi use community space including performance space
- a cycle hub

It is hoped that the planned development will:
- create employment opportunities for local people
- make the area more welcoming for families
- create a positive impression for visitors
- support the growth of local businesses
- reduce crime and antisocial behaviour
- improve air quality
