£300,000 for Ballymacash Sports Academy

Ballymacash Sports Academy has been awarded £300,000 from the Community Ownership Fund to provide sport facilities for local people.

The football club, which was formed in 1984, has nurtured the ambitions of many aspiring footballers. The investment will modernise and improve facilities at the Academy’s Rushmore Drive site.

Rushmore Drive Improvements

The improvements include:

  • mini allotments and a community garden
  • a new full size floodlit 3g pitch
  • 100-seater spectator stand
  • outdoor gym equipment
  • perimeter fencing

Benefits to the local community

Improvements to the Academy will benefit the local community by:

  • providing better links between the academy, schools and the community
  • increasing participation in sport for all genders, ages and abilities
  • offering affordable skills sessions
  • creating new job opportunities

Funding will ensure that the academy responds to the community’s needs and provide a modern sports facility for the local area.
