£20 million to transform Selby Centre (Levelling Up Fund 2)

£20 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been awarded to Haringey Council to transform the Selby Centre in Tottenham into a new ‘urban village’, including new community and leisure facilities.

State-of-the art Community Space  

The new Urban Village will offer state-of-the-art community facilities, purpose-built to support the activities of 60+ community enterprises, projects and training providers.  

The space will offer:  

  • multi-purpose offices 
  • a new community cafe and community hall  
  • soft play areas and a creche 
  • a boxing club for young people  

Leisure facilities  

Levelling Up funding will also transform Bull Lane Playing Field into a new sports and leisure hub, which will include:  

  • a four-court sports hall  
  • a floodlit full-sized artificial grass pitch for football and rugby   
  • two junior grass football pitches  
  • an artificial non-turf cricket pitch  
  • a multi-use games area  

Community park  

An inclusive new community park will also be developed, which will promote health and wellbeing in the community. The park will include:  

  • a new adventure playground  
  • communal planting and food growing areas  
  • new paths to encourage active travel and improve connectivity  

The new Selby Centre, sports and leisure facilities and park are phase 1 of the council’s scheme to transform Selby.
