£20 million funding to regenerate Ashton town centre

Ashton was allocated almost £20 million from the Levelling Up Fund. Plans for the allocation include the restoration of Ashton Town Hall.

Restoring Ashton Town Hall

The allocation is planned to support repairs to the roof and other restoration works. The works will help bring Ashton Town Hall back into public use and include the restoration of the art gallery and the Museum of Manchester Regiment.

Creating a new residential and commercial space

Plans to upgrade the former bus interchange site will support the development of:

  • new commercial space
  • residential units
  • retail space

New cycle routes

The planned introduction of new cycle routes will help prioritise walking and cycling in the town centre. Refurbishment of the market square is also planned.
