£18 million for Dover Beacon (Levelling Up Fund 2)

Over £18 million from the Levelling Up Fund was allocated to the Dover Beacon project.

Regeneration in the heart of Dover

The Dover Beacon project will see the town centre brownfield land on Bench Street regenerated to create a centre for education, business and creativity. This complements a separate project funded by the Future High Streets Fund.

Dover Beacon will include:

  • a further educational campus for Dover’s young people to access training in creative and digital industries
  • a business centre with affordable facilities that supports start-ups and helps small and medium sized businesses to grow
  • a cultural centre with gallery space and artist studio spaces to allow innovation in digital and immersive art forms
  • breakout spaces for meetings
  • improved public space around the building for the public to enjoy as well as reconnecting part of the River Dour to the town centre
  • extending the existing cycle hire scheme network
  • bringing the underpass back into use and increasing connections to Dover’s Waterfront and Town Centre
