£13 million to redevelop Pollok Country Park Stables and Sawmill
A project to redevelop the Grade A listed Pollok Country Park Stables and Sawmill in Glasgow received an allocation of £13 million from the Levelling Up Fund.
A new net-zero ‘Living’ Heritage Centre
The project aims to create a community and visitor attraction based around the famous Clydesdale Horses.
The plans include:
- working stables to offer hands-on experiences for families
- demonstrations around renewable and sustainable energy
- flexible event spaces for community groups and schools
- water source heat pumps and solar panels
- the installation of a hydro-electric turbine
- carriage tours and omnibus rides
- educational exhibitions
- a café
Proposals include training and employment opportunities for local people.
