As part of the Trade Strategy published in June 2025, the UK is considering negotiating a new treaty chapter on government procurement within the pre-existing UK-Morocco association agreement.
Government procurement refers to the process by which public authorities acquire goods, services, or works (such as construction) from private companies.
This would be the UK’s first legally binding procurement commitments with Morocco and with an African nation. This new treaty chapter would build on the memorandum of understanding signed by the UK and Morocco in June 2025 to promote procurement co-operation.
We are encouraging input from both businesses and members of the public to inform which aspects of any future agreement would offer the best possible opportunities.
