Summary
This project has:
- consolidated and synthesised the existing body of evidence related to PFR
- identified key gaps within the evidence base
- suggested where the most valuable future research into PFR could be positioned
The annex of the report provides a summarised version of the current evidence base, which is presented as an interactive Evidence Compendium.
Background
Property Flood Resilience (PFR) can provide homes and businesses with the tools to manage the impact that flooding has on their property and their lives and help meet the UK Government’s aim of having a country more resilient to flooding. With the evidence base currently fragmented across stakeholders and research disciplines, there was a need to consolidate existing knowledge to inform effective policy development.
Main findings
This report identifies seven key evidence gaps, developed through an evidence review and stakeholder interviews and workshop. Future developments in the PFR sector are also identified, such as how technological advancements might enhance PFR information and awareness. Building on the evidence gaps and future developments identified, the report puts forward 10 suggestions for future research.
