The project built on the work already carried out as part of the IDBs Review (2006) and FL0224 - ‘Update of the 2006 review of the IDBs efficiency evidence’ (January 2010).

The purpose of this project was to expand the evidence about how Internal Drainage Boards (IDBs) operate and are governed. It also had the aim of ultimately bringing them together into a single management unit for each sub-catchment.

The project focused on three areas:

  • case studies of maintenance costs
  • distributing costs and benefits
  • understanding who is on the management boards and their expertise

The project started in March 2010 and was completed in July 2010 at a cost of £28,177.
