You must register your potato seed crop with the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA).

Classification is carried out by at least 2 inspections by DAERA.

Conditions

Once you’re registered:

  • you’ll be issued with a growers number
  • your details will be added to the annual Northern Ireland Register of Pre-Basic and Basic Seed Potato Crops
  • you’ll be able to apply for plant passport labels for your crop

All potatoes marketed will also be inspected by DAERA to ensure that quality standards are met.
