Exchange a non-GB driving licence

You can exchange your licence if it was issued on or after 1 January 1976. There is no fee.

  1. Order form D1 from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

  2. Send the form and any documents you need (including your driving licence) to the address on the form.

  3. Your licence will usually arrive within 3 weeks. It might take longer if you’ve told DVLA about a medical condition and your details need to be checked.
