  • Measurement of women’s empowerment is contested and debated.

  • Measurement validation of DHS data shows 3 domains of women’s empowerment.

  • Domains include human and social assets, gendered beliefs, and decision-making.

  • Country comparison is possible with this validated, measurement invariant scale.
