Abstract

This report presents a summary of urban transport statistics for Ghana for the year 1995. It is an example of an urban transport database which can be used to monitor current performance and trends in the sector. The data was largely generated by a series of low-cost field surveys, which focus on key corridors and terminals. The aim would be to replicate these surveys at frequent intervals so that the database can be used to track and identify changing traffic and transport characteristics. Apart from monitoring performance, the database also records fixed assets, equipment and prices.
