Understanding Immune Correlates of Protection (Part 1) - November 2006. How can researchers identify the correlates of protection for an AIDS vaccine?

Abstract

The problems of identifying the specific immune responses that protect people against HIV are discussed. Two groups of people are under study: those who are repeatedly exposed but remain uninfected and those who have HIV but have not progressed to AIDS in the usual time period. Animal models are also used.
