Abstract

Voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) is the process used by community-based clinics and trial sites to offer HIV testing, education, and counseling to individuals who want to know whether they are HIV infected or not. This factsheets explains how voluntary testing of couples (CVCT) is different. It also explains why CVCT is an important recruitment tool for AIDS vaccine trials and how CVCT can be used to recruit women for vaccine trials.
