The Role of Institutions in Rural Territories that have Undergone Land Reform.

Abstract

This paper examines the complex relationships between productive transformation and institutional realities, focusing on two particular territories: Daule and Cayambe in Ecuador. It analyses changes in the agricultural structure of both geographical areas in the context of changing territorial, national and global realities in recent decades. The first section describes the economic dynamics of the two areas, their principal activities, and the structural changes that they have undergone; the second section examines the role of local and regional institutions and their impact on the main economic variables affecting producers, using both quantitative and qualitative criteria for the assessment.
