Abstract

The Research Society Allama Iqbal Medical College conducted a research study for assessment of antenatal care services in first-level care facilities (Basic Health Units - BHUs, and Rural Health Centers - RHCs) in nine districts of Punjab.

The objective of the study was to assess the institutional capacity of the ANC health system in terms of measureable indicators related to management, facility resources, quality of services and facility performance for ANC in primary health care (PHC) facilities. The study also assessed the interactions of health system components i.e. clients, providers and health managers to explore the factors that influence the ANC services delivery process using a qualitative approach.
