Abstract

This fact sheet (available in English, French, Spanish and German) describes why vaginal microbicides are needed for the control of HIV/AIDS: current prevention methods are not enough, and female-initiated options are needed. It gives very brief information on what microbicides are and the work that is going on to develop and test them, and lists some of the countries that fund research or host trials.
